In October, 2000, Ruth began the fulfillment of a life-long dream to create handmade items to sell. These creations by hand
using fine fabrics and embellishments make tasteful,
unique gifts and home furnishings.
Ruth began her business in a guest cottage behind her house in Westport, Massachusetts. Ruth began sewing in high school and she has made her own clothes, clothes for her children, and draperies and cushions for her home. The first items for sale were crib quilts patterned on crib quilts bought for her three children at their births in 1968, 1971, and 1975. The Freedom Trail quilt was bought in 1968. It was made in Alabama, by a Freedom Cooporative, as part of the quest for civil rights.

These three initial patterns have expanded to include six additional patterns. To this first offering have been added quilted wallhangings, pillows, throws, and a line of women's accessories: silk brocade jewelry pouches, shoulder bags, belts, sashes and eyeglass cases. From cottons to silk brocades to bead and button embellishments, and appliqués, Ruth's current work is varied, functional, colorful, and distinctive.
